By purchasing a hippo t-shirt, you are helping to build an exciting and interactive family play area located between our Meerkat and Hippo exhibits inside Africa.
This brand new play space will include climbing rocks, a ropes course activity area, and interactive hippo sculptures perfect for fun photo opps!
The Nile hippo exhibit and surrounding family play area will be the final addition to the Zoo’s $34 million Africa exhibit.
Our hippo play area and exhibit will be the perfect finishing touch to the largest project in the Zoo’s history – Africa!
Visit Africa now and enjoy the opportunity to watch our three, playful lion cubs cause mischief as they grow up right in front of your eyes! With plenty of painted dog pups in Painted Dog Valley, it could take more than one Zoo visit to tell them apart. This summer, enjoy face-to-face encounters with meerkats in a brand new exhibit, where a pop up bubble allows your child (or the child in you) to get an up close view of these charismatic creatures. Come back week after week to get to know all the new faces at the Zoo! Also, visit the open-vista hoof stock exhibit with ostrich, lesser kudu, crested guineafowl, pink-backed pelican, and Rüppell’s and lappet-faced vulture, to name a few!

As lifelong Cincinnati residents we have always been proud of and supportive of our Zoo. Now that we are Grandparents we are still enjoying our zoo trips whether with kids or without. Looking forward to seeing the newest exhibit.!
I feel that any cause that strives to make life/living on earth better for its inhabitants (whether people or animals) is not only worthwhile, but necessary and heart touching.
I love the Cincinnati Zoo for family. I have a 5 month old and I can't wait for him to hop the hippos soon! :-)
